58 Hits (Evoking Spirits Embracing Memory)
Evoking Spirits is a grant funded project supported by the Village Of Arts and Humanities, which began in January 2007, curated, by Joyce Scott and Homer Jackson. I was amongst 12 artists who were selected to create and install bottle trees sculptures dedicated to African American, Philadelphian, Artistic legends. 58 Hits is a tribute to the singer/songwriters McFadden & Whitedhead. My challenge was to incorporate my artistic identity as a graffiti writer into a monument that captured the heart and soul of McFadden & Whiteheads contribution to the music world. The adventure was adding all the nuances like records; cassette tapes, mosaics and spray paint cans to the actual sculpture. 58 hits is about love, soul, family and the evolution of R&B to Hip Hop music.
